Early Life and Career
WEB Goodin, a distinguished professor of philosophy at the Research School of the Social Sciences at the Australian National University (ANU), has been honored with the University's most prestigious award for his work as a leading political philosopher.
Born in the United States and raised in Indiana, Goodin earned his DPhil in Politics at Oxford in 1975. He began his academic career at the University of Essex, where he taught Government. Subsequently, Goodin held research positions in Philosophy and worked as a research professor at ANU.
Founding Editor and Associate Editor
Goodin is the founding editor of The Journal of Political Philosophy and has served as Associate Editor of Politics and Society.
2022 Johan Skytte Prize Recipient
In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field, Goodin was awarded the 2022 Johan Skytte Prize, a prestigious international award given to scholars who have made major advancements in political science.
